(032) Development of a Core Outcome Set for Provoked Vestibulodynia

چکیده
Abstract Introduction The literature on vulvodynia treatment is heterogeneous in terms of intervention type, study quality, and outcome measures. A systematic review (SR) treatments was recently published focusing randomized controlled trials (RCTs) non-RCTs for provoked vestibulodynia (PVD, a subtype). authors the SR concluded that most studies had very low certainty evidence, which limited ability to draw conclusions about efficacy. In addition, noted large degree heterogeneity measures, conduct meta-analysis, they recommended future incorporate core set (COS, an agreed-upon standardized outcomes should be assessed reported, as minimum, all clinical specific areas health or healthcare) so results from PVD can combined evaluated. Objective To establish COS PVD. Methods Project Management Team Swedish Agency Health Technology Assessment Social Services (SBU) consists researchers/clinicians, patient partner, technology methodologists. Since March 2022, team has conducted extracted (as 1990 studies, no date limit database). Sixty-six (e.g., pain during intercourse, sexual function) have been identified. two round Delphi survey with multiple stakeholders, registration participation (ongoing) open variety stakeholders: people current past lived experience PVD, relatives those healthcare practitioners, researchers, others leaders funding organizations). Participants who register will provide background information ensure representativeness stakeholder identification sociodemographic status country residence, gender), after asked participate first survey. asks participants rate each 9-point scale (from not important critical include always measured studies) list any included but were missed. second survey, highest ranks new presented participants, them. Then, virtual consensus meeting held some members groups discuss ranked decide ones set. Results We report interim progress Conclusions this contribute standardize reporting across stakeholders directly compare effectiveness different interventions, identify clinically relevant outcomes, reduce risk bias. allow generation consistent data meta-analyses. Provoked vestibulodynia: current perspectives
Provoked vestibulodynia (PVD) refers to vulvar pain of at least 3 months duration, localized to the vestibule, provoked by touch and sexual activity and occurring in the absence of a clear identifiable cause. The clinical spectrum ranges from mild with distressing discomfort through to severe and disabling pain. Current understanding is that PVD is one of many chronic pain conditions characteri...
متن کاملDevelopment of a gastroschisis core outcome set.
OBJECTIVE Outcome reporting heterogeneity impedes identification of gold standard treatments for children born with gastroschisis. Use of core outcome sets (COSs) in research reduces outcome reporting heterogeneity and ensures that studies are relevant to patients. The aim of this study was to develop a gastroschisis COS. DESIGN AND SETTING Systematic reviews and stakeholder nomination were u...
متن کاملRecent advances in understanding provoked vestibulodynia
Vulvodynia refers to pain in the vulva of at least 3 months' duration in the absence of a recognized underlying cause. Provoked, localized vestibulodynia is the term used to describe superficial pain confined to the vulvar vestibule, provoked by touch. This review will focus on provoked vestibulodynia with regard to its suggested causative factors and will discuss the role of inflammation, vulv...
متن کاملNETS1HD study: development of a Hirschsprung’s disease core outcome set
OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to develop a Hirschsprung's disease (HD) core outcome set (COS). METHODS Candidate outcomes were identified from a systematic review and stakeholder nomination. A three-phase Delphi process and consensus meeting were used to prioritise candidate outcomes based on scores assigned by stakeholder participants using a nine-point scale. In phases two and t...
متن کاملThe development of a colorectal cancer surgery core outcome set
Background Systematic reviews of colorectal cancer surgical trials demonstrate significant heterogeneity of outcome measurement and evidence for selective outcome reporting. This weakens evidence synthesis by hindering metaanalyses, and undermines trial results through outcome reporting bias. This study developed a “core set” of outcomes to be used in trials of colorectal cancer surgery to mini...
